The National Testing Agency conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2023) Main for entry into undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and states that fund them. It is held in January and April. In addition, JEE Advanced is required for admission to IITs. Institutions that offer B.E/B.Tech programmes require Paper I, whereas those that offer B.Arch and B.Plan programmes require Paper II and Paper III, respectively.

JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Prior to registering for JEE Main, you must be certain about your eligibility. The information down below describes the minimum age requirements and qualifications.

Minimum Qualification for JEE Main 2023

  • Candidates must have completed class 12 or its equivalent prior to taking the JEE Main exam. Those who completed the same in 2020, 2021, or 2022, or will complete it in 2022 are also eligible.
  • Diploma holders are also allowed to take the exam.
  • Those who have finished the Senior Secondary School examination organised by the National Institute of Open Education with five subjects or more are eligible as well.

JEE Main 2023 Application Form

The National Testing Agency (NTA) runs JEE Main twice a year in January and April. The application form is available on the jeemain.nta.nic.in website. Applications that are submitted in any other way will be discarded. At any time, if it is discovered that a candidate has applied for more than one test or appeared on more than one date or shift, his or her candidacy will be immediately terminated and the proper legal actions will be taken.

Keep following ready before you apply online:

  • An active Internet connection on a computer is required in order to take the certification test.
  • A photograph (size: 10 kb-200 kb) in JPG or JPEG format,
  • A signature (size: 4 kb-30 kb) in the same format,
  • A 12th grade or equivalent Admit card/mark sheet/score card (size: 50 kb-500 kb), and
  • An email address are required.
  • A printer must be connected to your system in order to print the confirmation page.

The detailed JEE Main exam pattern is as follows:

General Details

  • Date of Exam: January & April
  • Allocation of date and shift: Random
  • Medium of question paper: English, Hindi and Gujarati
  • Mode of exam: Computer based exam (except Drawing test of Paper II (B.Arch) which will be conducted in Pen & Paper mode).
  • Exam Duration: 3 hours (1 hour will be given extra for candidates of PwD category with 40% disability).
  • of Questions: Paper -1 (B.E/ B.Tech)- 75 questions; Paper -II(B.Arch) – 77 questions; Paper -III (B.Plan) – 100 questions.
  • Marking Scheme for MCQ: +4 for correct answer and -1 for incorrect answer
